Firewood Program

This program is run in partnership between the United Way of Lamoille County and the State of Vermont.

The State of Vermont Forest, Parks, and Recreation, in conjunction with Department of Children and Families Heating and Utility Assistance Program, donate log length wood. The wood comes from trees cut on state land in and around the Lamoille County area.

On average, 125 volunteers are needed each year for this project.  Many local companies give their employees time to volunteer on this project.

For more information on this project, call our office at 888-3252 or e-mail unitedway@uwlamoille.org.

Volunteer

In 2024, 44 cords of firewood were provided to seniors, veterans, and families who were income-eligible. This incredible feat was made possible by many donors and 155 volunteers offering 604 hours!

Volunteers are needed to block, split, stack and deliver firewood to our neighbors. People with chainsaws, wood splitters and trucks are essential.

The firewood lot is located at 595 Bridge Street in Morrisville. For more detailed directions, click “View Larger Map” on the map image below and enter your location.
