Join United Way’s Working Bridges and a panel of experts on Open Hiring practices to identify pathways to discovering untapped workforce potential in our state. Open Hiring is both a transformative practice for employers, employees and community and a strategy in promoting equity. This panel will focus on communicating best practices around recruiting and retaining employees that commonly struggle to find and keep work because of criminal history, language barriers, recovery from substance use disorder, limited education or qualifications, lack of work experience, and/or low or no job skills. Learn about the ins and outs of Open Hiring from small changes to more transformative organizational change. Experts will discuss the framework of Open Hiring, share specific examples and lessons taken from a year-long pilot conducted at Rhino Foods, and introduce key community-based supports essential to employee retention and success.
