Transitional Housing Program Manager

New Foundations is a residential program designed to provide educational and employment opportunities to low-income, single parents to enable them higher wages to support their families. Families with the greatest risk of being homeless are given priority placement in the program.
Outreach: Represent the New Foundations Transitional Housing Program in the community, engaging stakeholders and other interested parties in ongoing discussion of the program mission, program guidelines, requirements and promotion of its vital role in Lamoille County.
Assessment: Work collaboratively with the program’s Oversight Committee to screen/assess applicants to determine suitability to become a resident. Maintain monthly Oversight Committee meetings. Help assess program needs and likelihood that acceptance/residency will lead to a successful transition over time to obtaining permanent housing.
Service Delivery: Develop and coordinate service delivery plans in cooperation with service providers. Program Manager must hold weekly check in meetings with each participant. Identify needs to be met in the areas of housing, employment and training, education, health care, financial and legal issues, transportation and social support for each participant. Assistance may include housing search assistance, crisis assistance, education planning, and job placement or vocational training. Make appropriate referrals and provide follow-up to determine referral effectiveness.
Resource Management: Work with United Way and the Oversight Committee to develop and manage the annual budget. Initiate/develop alternative sources of funding to include, but not limited to, grant writing and state and federal funding opportunities.
Other: Develop and maintain case files and online database. Meet weekly with United Way Executive Director, and service providers to review service delivery plans, progress to date of residents and the need for additional services. Provide daily oversight of the transitional housing facility to ensure that policies/rules are understood and followed by residents. Work collaboratively with the program residents to maintain the facility, when appropriate.
Candidates for this position should have at least 3 to 5 years experience in the social services field. Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are required. Manager must have the ability to work effectively with volunteer boards and committees. Manager must have the ability to organize and implement activities and other program goals. Strong organizational and computer skills are required.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for the position is commensurate with experience. The position is full time (40 hours/week), regular, non-exempt, and is subject to all terms and conditions of the United Way Personnel Policies. Benefit packages are prorated and to be determined on an individual basis, upon hire.
