New Foundations is a transitional housing program for single parents and their children. The program is operated out of two buildings in down town Morrisville. We are able to serve 6 single parent families.
This strict, zero tolerance residential program is designed to help single parent families who are homeless or who constantly struggle to remain housed.
Year 1 of the program, the parent goes to school full-time to earn their degree or certificate. During this time they live rent-free in our apartments.
Year 2 of the program is dedicated to working full-time in the field the participant went to school for. During this time they live rent free, but must deposit 30% of earnings into a savings account.
We also work with the children to make sure they are ready for school and in quality childcare.
With hard work on the part of the program participants and 1:1 guidance from our Program Manager, the end goal of this program is permanent housing, employment to one's maximum potential, and complete self-sufficiency.
This program has been incredibly successful in helping people get out of poverty and live a life free from public assistance. It's amazing what someone can accomplish once you take the worry of housing off the table!
On February 23rd 2017, we purchased a second building, on Hutchins Street in Morrisville, which will double the capacity of our New Foundations Program. The funds for this successful capital campaign were secured through three private foundations which are dedicated to our program participants’ success. The United Way will be looking to fill three additional spots in New once the general fit-up of the building is complete.
The Board of Directors and staff are extremely excited about the opportunity to make a difference in more lives. Any questions about the program can be directed to Jim Curran at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 802.888.3252.
